On Sunday night, a dramatic incident unfolded at LaGuardia Airport when an Air Canada flight collided with a firetruck on the runway, critically injuring four firefighters. Sources report that the firefighters belong to the Port Authority Police Department.
The aircraft, arriving from Montreal, encountered the emergency vehicle as it was making its way to a gate amidst challenging weather conditions. The Citizen App captured footage of emergency vehicles rushing to the scene shortly after the collision.
Photos from the aftermath reveal the front of the commuter plane severely damaged and precariously tilted. The flight was carrying approximately one hundred passengers, including a group of Orthodox Jews from the New York area, whose health and well-being are currently being assessed.
Despite the gravity of the situation, immediate statements from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the Port Authority, and the Fire Department of New York (FDNY) were not forthcoming as of the time of reporting.
The collision happened as the plane was heading to a gate, as heavy weather hit the area.
The FAA, Port Authority, and the FDNY did not immediately respond to The Post’s request for comment.
