4 people on Florida boat killed by Cuban forces after entering its waters: officials

Cuban authorities have reported the fatal shooting of four individuals aboard an American-registered vessel found within their territorial waters.

According to a statement released by the Interior Ministry on social media, a “violating speedboat” was detected in Cuban waters on Wednesday morning.

The government of Cuba identified the boat as being registered in Florida. It was intercepted after the boat’s crew allegedly fired upon Cuban forces, injuring the commander of the Cuban vessel.

“Four aggressors on the foreign vessel were killed and six were injured. The injured individuals were evacuated and received medical assistance,” the Interior Ministry said.

It’s unclear who owned the boat or if Americans were on board.

Cuba is investigating. The White House and State Department did not respond immediately to a request for comment.
