In a tragic turn of events, the 22-year-old daughter of Minnesota GOP gubernatorial candidate Jeff Johnson has reportedly been killed in a stabbing incident believed to be a failed murder-suicide. Hallie Marie Tobler fell victim to this devastating crime, allegedly at the hands of her husband, according to police reports.

The St. Cloud Police Department was called to the scene on the 3100 block of 40 Ave. S. at around 8:20 p.m. on Saturday, responding to what was initially described as a “medical emergency.”

Upon arrival, officers discovered Hallie Tobler suffering from multiple wounds. Alongside her, they found her husband, 23-year-old Dylan Michael Tobler, who appeared to have inflicted stab wounds upon himself.

Following the incident, Hallie was taken to the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy to confirm the cause of death. Meanwhile, Dylan was transported to St. Cloud Hospital, where he remains in stable condition. Law enforcement officials have indicated that he is presently in the custody of the St. Cloud Police Department. He is expected to be transferred to the Stearns County Jail, where he will face charges related to his wife’s murder.

The Minnesota Republican Party said it was “heartbroken” by Saturday night’s murder.

“There are no words that can adequately express the sorrow we feel for Jeff and his family,” the Minnesota Republican Party said in a statement. “The loss of a child is unimaginable, and our thoughts and prayers are with them as they grieve this devastating tragedy.”
