Democrats Try New Narrative About Red States and Crime...and Get Torched

Democrats' New Story About Crime in Red States Faces Backlash

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt robustly countered the Democrats’ recent assertion that red states experience higher crime rates, effectively demonstrating that leftist crime policies have resulted in blue states and cities topping the charts.

During a White House Press Briefing on Tuesday, Leavitt addressed a reporter’s inquiry regarding the Democrats’ claim that red states have higher crime, while seemingly ignoring the rampant crime in blue cities.

“It’s true that crime is present in every state, but it’s particularly concentrated in cities governed by Democrats,” Leavitt explained. Reviewing the top 20 high-crime cities in the U.S., almost all, save one in Louisiana, are led by Democrats.”

She continued by pointing out the Democratic policies contributing to this situation, listing examples such as “cashless bail.”

Bringing up a red state like Mississippi, Leavitt noted that the Democrat-controlled city of Jackson, since 2019, ended cash bail for most misdemeanor cases. Even though Jackson is not officially a sanctuary city—Mississippi outlawed them—the city has effectively acted as one for criminals and unauthorized immigrants since 2017.”

And then she mentioned what has happened in the red state of Alabama, with the high crime city of Birmingham being run by Democrats.

“In 2017, the Birmingham city council unanimously passed a resolution ‘committing to establish sanctuary policies,'” Leavitt said. “So if you actually look at the facts, from these Democrat run cities…these are blue cities. And they have all supported these disastrous policies, which allow repeated career criminals back onto the streets to further commit acts of violence.”

At one point during the briefing, the White House Press Secretary dropped the number of arrests in places like Washington, D.C., since President Donald Trump’s federalization of the local law enforcement to crack down on crime.

In a post from our sister site, Townhall.com, it noted the following.

There have been a total of 2,177 arrests made since August 7.

–  57 arrests made last night:

– 14 illegal aliens

She also noted that just last night, D.C. enforcement made an arrest on a warrant for “assault with the intent to kill.”

Here are other arrests:

– Carjacking

– Second degree theft

– Possession of a substance

– Possession of controlled substance

– Felon in possession of illegal firearm

As RedState has reported, President Trump is done playing with Democrat governors and mayors and has begun the surge of law enforcement in places like Chicago, too, with “Operation Midway Blitz.”

In a post on Monday on X, Leavitt announced, “Trump admin launches ‘Operation Midway Blitz’ in push to target illegal immigrants, fight violent crime in Chicago.”

Sorry, Democrats, facts just don’t care about your feelings.
