DHS Says Mainstream Media 'Deliberately Lying' in Coverage of Events Leading Up to Catastrophic TX Flood

There are accusations ranging from the influence of DOGE to budget reductions at the National Weather Service and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). However, as noted by RedState’s Bonchie, many of these budget cuts are not yet in effect, and increased funding wouldn’t have altered their forecasts.

This is a tragic event, and as a parent, like Bonchie, it’s devastating to even think about the deep sorrow the victims’ families are experiencing right now. While investigations and detailed analyses will eventually take place to understand how to prevent such tragedies better, now is not the time for wild guesses and baseless claims.

Pointing fingers at the Trump administration for allegedly crippling our alert systems due to budget cuts is misguided; as per the Department of Homeland Security, the warnings were indeed issued. There are unresolved questions about subsequent events, but the media needs to refrain from making unsupported conjectures while the situation is still unfolding.
