Nestled off Lasky Drive, Hôtel Lili, which opened on April 1, offers a refreshing alternative for travelers eager to experience the allure of this high-end locale without the exorbitant price tag. With room rates beginning at approximately $325, this 44-room retreat is an unexpected find in an area where esteemed establishments like The Beverly Hills Hotel and The Peninsula often charge over $1,000 nightly.

Occupying a transformed 1930s building, Hôtel Lili embraces an aesthetic that marries Old Hollywood charm with the elegance of a Parisian pied-à-terre. The hotel doesn’t shy away from making a statement with its distinctive décor.

Guests are greeted by plush velvet accents, bold striped fabrics, whimsical wallpapered ceilings, and retro-style telephones — all elements that could easily belong in a scene from a Wes Anderson film.

Eschewing the conventional trappings of luxury hotels such as expansive ballrooms, large spas, and grand pools, Hôtel Lili focuses on delivering the essentials: stylish accommodations and an enviable address. The ambiance is more akin to a chic Parisian apartment than a lavish Los Angeles hotel.

In contrast to its neighboring counterparts, the hotel intentionally exudes a more understated vibe. Gone are the expansive lobbies and high-profile dining venues. Instead, visitors find a snug bar offering espresso martinis and gourmet bar snacks, cultivating an atmosphere more reminiscent of a neighborhood haunt than a celebrity enclave.

Usually, “affordable” in Los Angeles means staying in a different zip code and spending a chunk of your vacation in an Uber. But one of Hotel Lili’s biggest selling points is its proximity to the “Golden Triangle” in Beverly Hills.

It’s part of a fast-growing hotel empire that’s quietly redefining affordable luxury. Hotel Lili is the latest project from Palisociety, the LA-based hospitality group known for turning quirky, design-forward properties into must-stay hot spots.

The brand has built a cult following across the city by creating cool boutique hotels priced in the $200 to $500 range. Still, dropping a sub-$500 boutique hotel into a city synonymous with excess is a direct challenge to the status quo.

And it fills a noticeable gap: Beverly Hills has surprisingly few true boutique options, especially at this price point.  

While you won’t find a fleet of Rolls Royce’s in the driveway, staying here still puts you within walking distance of the world’s most famous retail destination: Rodeo Drive.

For the savvy traveler who knows that “luxury” is often just a marketing term for “overpriced,” Hotel Lili offers a refreshing (and still stylish) alternative.
