ANNECY, FRANCE — Walt Disney Studios and Pixar Animation Studios gave folks at the Annecy Animation Festival plenty to talk about.
First, attendees of the festival received an exclusive preview of “Zootopia 2,” set to hit theaters in November. The movie brings back beloved characters Judy Hopps (voiced by Ginnifer Goodwin), Nick Wilde (voiced by Jason Bateman), and Mr. Big (voiced by Maurice LaMarche), while introducing new characters Gary De’Snake (voiced by Ke Huy Quan), Nibbles (voiced by Fortune Feimster), and Dr. Fuzzby (voiced by Quinta Brunson). Additionally, it was announced that French actor Jean Reno will make a cameo appearance as an officer in the Zootopia Police Department.
Pixar’s Chief Creative Officer Pete Docter presented a glimpse of various upcoming films, including “Toy Story 5,” scheduled for release next summer. He confirmed that Joan Cusack will reprise her role as Jessie and hinted at some thrilling new characters.

Docter also revealed details about “Hoppers,” slated for a March 2026 release. This film will feature the voices of Jon Hamm and Bobby Moynihan.

And he announced a new Pixar film called “Gatto,” which is about a black cat named Nero who lives in Venice, Italy. “Indebted to a localfelinemob boss, Nero finds himself in a quandary and is forced toforge a truly unexpectedfriendship that mayfinally lead him to his purpose-unless Venice gets the better of him first,” states the film’s synopsis. “Gatto” is slated to be released in summer, 2027.
