Disney’s latest hit, “Zootopia 2,” is on the brink of reaching a staggering milestone, with projections indicating it will surpass the $1 billion mark at the worldwide box office just 17 days post-release.

To date, the animated feature has amassed $986.1 million globally, comprising $232.7 million from domestic audiences and $753.4 million internationally. This achievement places it as the second film of the year to hit the billion-dollar mark, following Disney’s “Lilo & Stitch.” Notably, “Zootopia 2” is set to become the fastest animated or PG-rated film to achieve this feat.

This accomplishment will add “Zootopia 2” to Disney’s roster of billion-dollar successes since 2013, joining the ranks of “Frozen,” “Frozen 2,” “Moana 2,” and the original “Zootopia.”

Debuting over the Thanksgiving weekend, “Zootopia 2” set new records with an unprecedented $559.5 million five-day global opening, marking the largest debut for any animated Disney title in the company’s history.

Jared Bush, Chief Creative Officer at Walt Disney Animation Studios, expressed his pride: “Everyone at Disney Animation poured their heart, soul, and creativity into this film to craft a tale rich in joy and imagination. This milestone signifies more than financial success; it represents audiences gathering in theaters worldwide, sharing the Zootopia experience, which is truly a dream realized.”

For fans eager to revisit the world of Zootopia, both “Zootopia” and the series “Zootopia+” are currently streaming on Disney+, while “Zootopia 2” continues its theatrical run.
