A man walking his dog over Labor Day weekend discovered what may be wreckage from the deadly January midair plane collision in Washington, D.C.

Andrew Guevara recounted to FOX 5 DC that while walking with his dog on the Mount Vernon Trail in Alexandria over the weekend, he noticed several items floating in the water.

“I saw something that appeared a bit strange, although there is often a lot of trash by the river,” he mentioned to the local TV station.

“But something about it stood out. The best way I can describe it is that there was a lever, similar to those you find on airplane tray tables. At the bottom, there was a leather pouch, and the shape of the top resembled an airplane seat,” he explained.

In July, an official from the Federal Aviation Administration stated that an air traffic controller did not alert the crew of a commercial plane about an approaching Army helicopter, which led to a collision in Washington, D.C., on January 29, resulting in 67 fatalities.
