DOJ Accuses Southern Poverty Law Center of $3M Fraud Scheme Involving Payments to White Supremacist Groups

Among the recipients was a figurehead of the 2017 Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, who reportedly received approximately $270,000 across an eight-year span.

The indictment also implicates others connected to groups like the Ku Klux Klan, United Klans of America, Aryan Nations, the National Socialist Party of American Nazis, and the Sadistic Souls Motorcycle Club.

“The SPLC presents itself as a nonprofit committed to combatting white supremacy and racial hatred by researching and reporting on extremist groups to aid law enforcement in dismantling these organizations,” Blanche stated to the press.

“However, as laid out in the indictment, the SPLC was not dismantling these groups. Instead, it was allegedly fueling the extremism it claims to fight by compensating sources to incite racial animosity,” Blanche added.

“As the indictment describes, the SPLC was not dismantling these groups. It was instead manufacturing the extremism it purports to oppose by paying sources to stoke racial hatred.”

FBI Director Kash Patel called it a “widespread, decade-long multi-million dollar fraud” that was concealed through a “banking network.”

The SPLC “fraudulently raised money by lying to their donor network, thousands of Americans, to go ahead and actually pay the leadership of these supposed violent extremist groups,” Patel noted.
