The Justice Department is said to have initiated a criminal investigation involving former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo. The focus is on accusations that he misled Congress regarding the number of nursing home deaths in New York during the COVID-19 crisis.
According to the New York Times, the investigation was started approximately a month ago by the US Attorney’s Office in Washington, DC. This information was confirmed by two individuals who have knowledge of the situation.

The office was led at the time by Ed Martin, who was replaced earlier this month by Jeanine Pirro.
The DOJ and Cuomo did not immediately respond to The Post’s request for comment.
