A relative of a notorious Iranian warlord, currently facing deportation from California, has made a desperate plea for assistance from an old flame in Los Angeles, reaching out from an ICE detention center.
Hamideh Soleimani Afshar, 47, who is married and the niece of the infamous General Qasem Soleimani—once the commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard and killed in a 2020 U.S. airstrike—contacted Maziar Aflaki, 68, on Monday from a facility in Pearsall, Texas. This plea for help, however, was met with rejection.
Aflaki, now retired, declined to accept her call, citing a history of distress and maltreatment inflicted by Afshar. Speaking to the California Post, he expressed his reluctance to reengage with her. “I want nothing to do with her,” he stated. “She frightens me. She has a way of presenting herself as an angel while making you feel like the villain. I wanted her gone, and now it seems it’s finally happening.”
The Post previously reported that Afshar, known for showcasing her opulent lifestyle on social media, was apprehended at her Tujunga residence on April 3, alongside her daughter, Sarinasadat Hosseiny, 25.
Both women have had their U.S. permanent residency revoked as per Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s decision, due to alleged connections with the Iranian regime, as stated in a release on Saturday.
The pair have had their US permanent resident status revoked by Secretary of State Marco Rubio over alleged ties to the regime, according to a statement released on Saturday.
In a post on social media, Rubio described the two women as “green card holders living lavishly in the United States.”
Afshar entered the US in 2015 on a tourist visa – the year before she met Aflaki. She was granted asylum in 2019 then became a green card holder in 2021.
In a naturalisation application in 2025, Afshar revealed that she had visited Iran four times since receiving her green card. “Her trips to Iran illustrate her asylum claims were fraudulent,” the DHS said.
The State Department said Afshar was an “outspoken supporter of the totalitarian, terrorist regime in Iran” and had promoted “Iranian regime propaganda” on her social media account.
Hosseiny came to the US in 2015 on a student visa then was granted asylum in 2019 and a green card in 2023.
Afshar’s husband, who lives in Iran, has also been banned from the US. Although the State Department would not name him, the Post can reveal his identity to be Hasan Hosseiny.
Aflaki said he met Afshar in 2016 and targeted him so he would date her despite him insisting that he wasnât interested in romance.
âI said please stay away and leave me alone,â he recalled, but “manipulative” Afshar refused to leave him alone.
But she was relentless and launched a campaign to woo him over which turned into an ordeal of harassment, stalking and physical violence.
âShe takes advantage of every man she knows,â said Aflaki. âShe was saying âI love youâ but I was so afraid. She said I reminded her of her dad. All these years I was suffering. I wanted to have my life back.
âSheâs very dangerous – a professional troublemaker.â He added that his tormentor even stole a $6,500 diamond ring from him that belonged to his mom.
Today he said he was relieved that his former pursuer is being removed from the US and said of the Afsharâs recent notoriety that âsheâs become more famous than Kim Kardashian.â
Aflaki is not the only man to be stalked by Afshar.
LA hairdresser Zare Mandani, 54, previously revealed to the Post he was granted a five-year restraining order after she harassed him at his salon and home in 2024.
âThank God,â he said after hearing of her arrest by ICE. âThatâs good. Sheâs a stalker.â
In court filings, he said Afshar had subjected him to âemotional abuse, harassmentâ and that she âthreatened to hurt herself.â
Aflaki believes anyone connected to the Iranian regime should be removed from the US. âThey should all be deported,â he said. âThese people are poison. Theyâre trash.â
On Monday, the Post revealed that college professor Eissa Hashemi, 43, the son of a notorious Iranian regime leader, is also enjoying an affluent SoCal lifestyle, despite called for him to be removed from the country.
His mom is Masoumeh Ebtekar, known as âScreaming Mary,â who promoted the militants who stormed the US Embassy in Tehran in 1979 and held 52 Americans hostage for 444 days.
Ebtekar became infamous for her nauseating pro-militia propaganda during the crisis and was later promoted to Vice President for Women and Family Affairs by regime leaders. Today, she is one of the highest-ranking women in the Muslim world.
One critic wrote online of Hashemi, a lecturer at the $20,000 a year Chicago School in Claremont, east LA, âWhile the mother has no regret of occupying the US embassy in Tehran, many Iranians have been affected by this action while her own son has taken advantage of living in the US.
âWe want Issa Hashemi and his wife, Maryam Tahmasebi to be fired from the US as soon as possible.â
A poster on Instagram said: âMr. Hashemi has never publicly distanced himself from his motherâs actions or legacy.â
âI believe Eissa Hashemiâs affiliations could undermine the safety, trust, integrity, values, or commitment to human rights at an American college, warranting further examination.â
