THIS is the heart-stopping moment a daring Ukrainian raid kills over 330 Russian troops.

Valiant Ukrainian fighters infiltrated enemy lines using helicopters before executing a precise attack with dragon drones, alongside assault rifles, machine guns, and grenade launchers.

Kyiv’s defence intelligence (HUR) pulled off the calculated strikes as they battled back against a Russian advance in Sumy.

The HUR said they stopped Vladimir Putin’s troops “cold” when troops from its elite Timur unit infiltrated enemy positions in a woodland area.

Hundreds of Vlad’s men were caught off guard as close-quarter fighting erupted alongside co-ordinated drone and artillery strikes from above.

Dramatic footage shows how Ukraine pounded Russians lurking behind trees with strikes as huge explosions and screams ring out.

Troops in Timur then rushed into the battlefield in open-top trucks as they chucked drones from their hands at the cowering enemy.

Ukrainian “dragon drones” were also on show during the blitz as they spitted out a fiery stream of thermite onto the Russian-held treeline.

The drone left behind a trail of fire as it spewed out sparks believed to contain thermite, which is made up of iron oxide and aluminium.

Ukrainian drone operators have preferred thermite weapons because the intensely hot molten iron, burning at 2,500 degrees, can ignite fires, destroy Russian weaponry, and reveal their locations.

At least 334 Russian troops were killed and over 550 wounded, according to HUR.

Audio from the daring mission picked up the soldiers signing off the video by saying: “The armed struggle continues! Glory to Ukraine!”

The attacks were carried out by several forces within Ukraine’s brave military.

This effort involved units like Chymera, Yunger, Stugna, Siberian Battalion, Aratta, 1514, Paragon, Art Division, First Line, Raven Group, and the 6th Special Operations Unit.

According to HUR, these operations not only stopped Russia’s advance in Sumy and resulted in the deaths of hundreds of troops, but they also disrupted supplies of food and ammunition to Russian forces.

No indication of the date or exact location of the blitz has been given yet.

But Severnnyi, a Russian military blogger, announced on Monday that Moscow’s forces had been surrounded in the Oleksiivka area.

He said: “They have us trapped. Water on three sides, and Ukrainians on the fourth.”

It is unclear if this is the same attack by Timur forces.

The elite unit is an umbrella command within HUR who are in charge of a number of specialised Ukrainian forces.

The group is named after leader Lieutenant-Colonel Timur.

He became a national hero after placing a Ukrainian flag in Crimea for the first time in a decade during a special mission in August 2024.

It comes as the conflict in Ukraine continues to escalate with the death toll on both sides increasing.

Over 1,059,000 Russian fighters have been eliminated since February 2022, say Ukraine.

With Ukrainian civilians being targeted in deadly missile barrages almost every night across the country’s major cities – including Kyiv.

Donald Trump is now set to “go ballistic” if Putin doesn’t agree to a last-minute peace deal this week to finally end the fighting.

US special envoy Steve Witkoff arrived in Moscow earlier today for critical talks two days before the deadline set by Trump expires, accompanied by the threat of new sledgehammer sanctions.

A source close to the US administration told the Financial Times: “If Witkoff comes back empty-handed, with absolutely nothing, Trump is going to go ballistic.”

Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has previously warned: “Each new ultimatum is a threat and a step towards war.”

It comes a day after Russia declared there are now “no limits” on its deployment of nuclear missiles.

In a warning to the West, Moscow vowed to match any US and Nato moves with force – reigniting fears of a Cold War-style arms race.

Meanwhile, Trump ordered two nuclear submarines to be positioned near Russia in case “foolish and inflammatory statements are more than just that”.

Will there be peace in Ukraine?

THE prospect of peace in Ukraine remains uncertain as the Russia-Ukraine war continues into its fourth year.

Recent US-brokered talks, including direct negotiations in Istanbul on May 16 and June 2, 2025, have yielded no breakthroughs, though agreements on prisoner exchanges signal some dialogue.

US President Donald Trump has pushed for a ceasefire, shortening a 50-day deadline for Russia to negotiate or face sanctions, but tensions persist with Russian advances in eastern Ukraine and intensified drone and missile strikes on cities like Kyiv.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has suggested territorial swaps, while Russia shows little willingness to compromise.

With ongoing military escalation and divergent American and European approaches, a lasting peace deal appears distant.
