In Rotterdam, Dutch authorities have launched an investigation into an arson attack targeting a local synagogue, marking the latest in a troubling series of incidents suspected to be fueled by antisemitic motives. The blaze, fortunately, resulted in no injuries and was swiftly extinguished. As of now, no arrests have been made, according to the city’s police department.
Rotterdam police took to social media platform X to share details about the incident, which occurred around 3:40 a.m. “A fire was started at the synagogue,” the post read. “The fire burned for a short time before being extinguished.” Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward to aid in their investigation.
Just days earlier, another synagogue, located some 124 miles away in Belgium, suffered damage from an explosion. Officials have classified this as an antisemitic attack, though it too thankfully resulted in no injuries.
