MIDTOWN MANHATTAN — For over 25 years, Bottomless Closet has empowered New York City women in need as they work to land their next job.

However, it goes beyond just receiving career guidance and a new wardrobe. Clients join a supportive network of women throughout the city who are committed to helping each other thrive.

For Executive Director Melissa Norden, this mission is personal.

“Before I arrived here, I lost my job. I used to think I was pretty confident, but that experience brought me down swiftly,” expressed Norden.

Bottomless Closet is there for all women, no matter what they’ve gone through.

“Many have dealt with homelessness, substance abuse, or incarceration… we all have faced challenges that have led us to seek help at Bottomless Closet,” Norden shared.

From styling sessions and mock interviews to clothing donations, Bottomless Closet does everything it can to reignite a woman’s spark.

The clothing provided is not merely attire; it’s a means of boosting self-assurance, enabling women to envision themselves fitting into the professional spheres they wish to be a part of.

“Entering felt welcoming, and everyone was incredibly kind. You put in the effort, complete your part, and eventually, you earn your paycheck,” remarked Kamari Tuitt, a Bottomless Closet client who secured employment after her initial visit.

Through one-on-one attention, Bottomless Closet provides women with the tools and resources they need to get back on their feet.

“This is a venue where individuals can make a substantial impact. Whether through donating clothes, volunteering time, or simply supporting women, you can genuinely uplift someone,” stated Norden.
