CALHOUN COUNTY, Ala. (WIAT) — Sexual abuse charges have been filed against a lawyer from Calhoun County, as announced by Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall on Thursday.
On Thursday, a grand jury indicted Doug Ghee on one count of first-degree sexual abuse. Ghee, 79, is an attorney at G.D.A. Firm
According to court records, Ghee allegedly touched someone in a sexual manner with “forcible compulsion.”
In a lawsuit filed last August, Justice N. King accused Ghee of coercing her into being his “sex slave” during her time as an inmate at the Calhoun County Jail, promising her a reduced sentence in return.
According to King’s lawsuit, the proposed deal required her to pay Ghee $2,500 and continue as his “sex slave” upon her release from jail. The legal complaint describes an alleged incident where Ghee forcibly kissed and groped King during a jail visit. Another inmate also reported similar misconduct by Ghee.
Ghee, who served in the Alabama Senate from 1990 to 1998, has since pleaded not guilty and has been released on $5,000 bond as the case makes its way through the court.
