A former employee of Hilliard Middle-Senior High School, Jennifer Folliett, is facing serious allegations after reportedly embezzling over $120,000 from the institution. The 46-year-old was arrested on January 27th, according to the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office, following a thorough investigation into her financial misconduct.

The investigation was initiated in February 2025 when the Nassau County School Board noticed suspicious financial activities linked to the school’s funds and the misuse of its Amazon account. These concerns prompted a deeper look into the school’s financial records.

Authorities discovered that Folliett allegedly siphoned funds from several school sources for her personal gain. This fraudulent activity was uncovered through third-party audits conducted over the past year. These audits revealed that between August 2022 and December 2024, Folliett made 148 cash deposits into her personal bank account, amounting to a total of $124,610.

Further examination also uncovered that Folliett misused the school’s Amazon account, spending over $2,000 on unauthorized purchases. These included items such as clothing, weight loss products, and perfume, which were clearly not related to any school needs.

The case underscores the importance of financial oversight in educational institutions and serves as a reminder of the potential for misuse of funds when such controls are lacking. The investigation continues as the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office works to ensure justice and restore trust within the school community.

Investigators also discovered more than $2,000 in unauthorized purchases made through the school’s Amazon account for things like clothing, weight loss products, and perfume.

The stolen funds were obtained through an “organized scheme,” according to NCSO, where Folliett reportedly collected money for various school clubs and activities while keeping a portion of the funds for herself. As a result, several school invoices were reportedly paid late and sports teams and clubs faced issues with orders due to the fact that funds were not deposited in full.

Folliett is also accused of disguising sporting event attendance. Investigators noted a consistent decline in reported ticket sales year over year, which they say was inconsistent with the post-COVID increase in event attendance.

Foliett’s employment with HMSHS was terminated in December of 2024 following the school district’s preliminary findings. She was booked into the Nassau County Jail and Detention Center on Tuesday with a $75,000.

Folliett faces charges for organized fraud, grand theft, and official misconduct.
