The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office says an argument in the parking lot of the bar led to shots being fired and several people were detained.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Early Monday morning, a man was fatally shot and a woman was injured in a parking lot outside a San Marco bar, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office reported.

Officers arrived at the scene around 2:30 a.m. at Locals Bar, situated at 1216 Kings Ave., in response to the incident, according to JSO Sgt. Steve Rudlaff.

When officers arrived, Rudlaff said they found the man who was between 30-35 years old, and the woman who is between 25-30 years old, both shot.

Rudlaff told First Coast News members of the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department then arrived on scene and pronounced the man dead.

The woman was taken to a local hospital after sustaining a “non-life-threatening gunshot wound to her back,” Rudlaff said.

Rudlaff noted that a dispute between two groups of people in the parking lot of the unnamed business escalated into a shooting. He mentioned that the business was closed when the incident occurred.

According to Rudlaff, officers detained several people at the scene.

“At this time, we do believe it was an isolated incident,” Rudlaff said. “Everyone is accounted for. There’s no other threat to the community at this point. We do not believe it has anything to do with a domestic situation.”

Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call JSO’s non-emergency number at 904-630-0500. To provide information anonymously, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
