FBI Director Kash Patel disclosed that the probe into conservative speaker Charlie Kirk’s assassination has widened, with the bureau examining various individuals who might have interacted with the suspect via online forums.
During a Senate hearing on Tuesday, Patel mentioned that several of those under investigation are associated with an online chatroom where the alleged assailant, Tyler Robinson, supposedly revealed his intentions.
Sen. John Kennedy, R-La., directly pressed Patel on whether Kirk’s suspected killer acted alone.
“So others could have been involved?” Kennedy asked.
Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk was shot and killed at a Utah event on September 10, 2025.
“Those closest to the suspect will likely know the most about his beliefs and ideology,” said Patel. “We continue to pursue this line of inquiry.”
Senator Hawley questioned Patel on whether Kirk’s murder is indicative of a larger issue of anti-Christian violence, a rising concern among conservatives.
“Is the FBI investigating the Kirk assassination as part of this broader pattern of anti-religious, anti-Christian violence?” Hawley asked.
Patel assured, “We are thoroughly investigating Charlie’s murder and following every lead regarding broader violence allegations.”
Patel did not name specific individuals but confirmed that numerous people are now being interrogated and that the FBI is pursuing additional suspects tied to the same chatroom.
