Texas woman charged for apartment fire after allegedly burning boyfriend’s clothes in BBQ pit

A dramatic blaze consumed a Texas apartment complex after an unusual domestic incident led to the arrest of a woman accused of setting fire to her boyfriend’s clothes using a barbecue pit. This fiery episode unfolded on a Monday morning, igniting a series of unfortunate events.

Crystal D. Randall has been named as the suspect in this incendiary case by the Harris County Fire Marshal, according to information provided to Fox News Digital. Residents of the Southlake Villas apartments in Harris County were left reeling from the aftermath of this unexpected conflagration.

According to investigators, the fire was the result of a domestic disagreement that escalated when Randall allegedly decided to incinerate her boyfriend’s clothing on a patio barbecue pit. This impulsive act, reported by FOX26 Houston, set off a chain reaction that quickly got out of control.

Despite attempts to douse the flames, the fire reignited and rapidly spread to the building, causing significant damage. The Sheldon Fire Department reported that 13 apartment units were left “heavily and irreparably damaged” by the time the fire was finally subdued.

The incident, which occurred on January 5, 2026, serves as a stark reminder of how quickly domestic disputes can escalate into far-reaching consequences, leaving many residents displaced and grappling with the destruction of their homes.

The flames “heavily and irreparably damaged” 13 apartment units, the Sheldon Fire Department said.

“It spread way over here,” witness Mario Thompson told KTRK-TV. “The roof had caved in. It was like stuff falling off the back. I’m like, ‘Dang.’”

An ember rekindled a hotspot that forced firefighters to return to the scene. One firefighter was injured battling the second fire and was in stable condition at a hospital, FOX26 reported.

Randall was charged with reckless arson and taken to a hospital for unknown reasons.
