Since the massive win on September 6, the Powerball jackpot has remained elusive, with no winners yet to claim the top prize.
WASHINGTON — The Powerball jackpot has surged to a whopping $654 million for the upcoming Monday draw, following another draw on Saturday that failed to produce a jackpot winner.
The jackpot has been on an upward trajectory since the last major win in September, when two lucky ticket holders from Missouri and Texas claimed an astonishing $1.8 billion. This remarkable win stands as one of the largest in U.S. lottery history.
This increase in the Powerball pot comes in the wake of a lengthy dry spell for Mega Millions, which recently ended with a lucky ticket sold in Newnan, Georgia, netting nearly a billion dollars.
The current Powerball prize of $654 million offers a cash option of $303.2 million, although it still falls short of the top 10 all-time Powerball jackpots, which start at over $750 million.
