BETHPAGE, New York — President Donald Trump arrived on Long Island on Friday morning to attend the Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black Golf Course

He touched down in Farmingdale before noon with his granddaughter, Kai, in tow.

President Trump planned to spend more than three hours viewing what he dubbed on social media as “Tournament Friday.”

The visit brought the highest level of security to the event, with local road closures and disruptions.

PGA advised fans to expect “enhanced security measures and additional restrictions.” All those attending the large grandstand surrounding the first tee and the 18th green, along with those in the clubhouse, will encounter “TSA-style screening points. Ticketed spectators are advised to arrive as early as possible and should allocate extra time as they plan their visit.” Items generally allowed at major golf events will not be permitted on Friday in the first tee grandstand or clubhouse area of the golf course.

Trump observed the 45th Ryder Cup from a seat in the grandstand, behind his usual security glass. He is the first sitting U.S. president to make an appearance, and this marked Trump’s first visit to Long Island during his second term.

He is not expected to return for Sunday’s Ryder Cup presentation.

President Trump was accompanied by Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman.

“He’s the boss out here, he’s done a phenomenal job… he’s really a great guy,” Trump said of Blakeman.

Trump carried Nassau County in last year’s presidential election, becoming the first Republican to do so in over 30 years. He secured victories in Suffolk County in 2016, 2020, and 2024.
