WASHINGTON — The recall of Foster Farms corn dogs has expanded significantly following reports of injuries caused by wood fragments embedded in the batter. This development was highlighted in an updated health alert issued on Friday, which now brings an additional 118,098 pounds of corn dogs under the recall’s scope.

To date, the recall encompasses nearly 4 million pounds of assorted frozen corn dog products from Foster Farms.

The affected corn dog products were manufactured between July 30, 2024, and August 4, 2025. Consumers can identify the recalled items by locating the “establishment number” P-6137B on their packaging.

These corn dogs were distributed to retail and institutional outlets across the country, including deliveries to the Department of Defense and USDA Commodity Foods programs, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service.

Officials express concern that many of these products might still be stored in home freezers due to their extended “use by” dates reaching into 2026. Customers are strongly advised against consuming these products and are recommended to either discard them or return them to the point of purchase for a refund.

Hillshire Brands Company also recalled nearly 60 million pounds of Jimmy Dean and State Fair brand corn dog products made between March 17 and Sept. 26. 

An investigation into multiple reports of injuries found the corn dog batter had been “contaminated” with pieces of wood.
