A property manager in South Florida is facing serious allegations of embezzling hundreds of thousands of dollars from local homeowners association (HOA) accounts. Police claim she splurged the stolen funds on cosmetic surgery, luxurious vacations, and extravagant shopping sprees before disappearing.

The Martin County Sheriff’s Office has issued an arrest warrant for 46-year-old Alexandra Delacaridad Gonzalez. She is under investigation for allegedly committing fraud while working for Avant-Garde Property Management, handling HOA accounts.

Gonzalez is charged with two counts of fraud involving amounts over $50,000, two counts of grand theft, 61 counts of issuing false documents, and 59 counts of embezzlement. Authorities have set her total bond at a staggering $1.35 million.

The Criminal Investigations Division of the Martin County Sheriff’s Office has been actively pursuing Gonzalez, who is accused of misappropriating substantial funds from local HOAs where she served as a property management bookkeeper.

According to investigators, Gonzalez systematically wrote checks to herself from the HOA accounts, covering her tracks with fake invoices and fraudulent ledger entries.

Authorities further allege that she forged the signatures of the legitimate account holders to facilitate her scheme.

According to the sheriff’s office, subpoenaed records indicate the money was used for personal expenses, including shopping, plastic surgery and vacations.

Homeowner associations are private community-run associations that are structured within a real estate development.

The alleged fraud was identified by the homeowners associations and reported to law enforcement. The sheriff’s office identified the victims so far as Whitemarsh Reserve Homeowners Association and The Dunes of Hutchinson Island.

Authorities said Gonzalez may be in the Miramar or Vero Beach area.
