BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — An inmate at the Jefferson County Jail died over the weekend.

Andre Eugene Hope, 43, of Fultondale, was pronounced dead at 8:10 a.m. Sunday, shortly after being found unresponsive in his cell by a guard.

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office states that there were no indications of trauma or foul play related to Hope’s passing. The cause of death remains undetermined.

Jail records reveal that Hope was previously incarcerated on charges of burglary, marijuana possession, and aggravated criminal surveillance from March 27 until his release on June 26 after posting bond. However, he was re-arrested on July 1 on sexual misconduct charges and remained in custody until his passing.
