In the history of no good, very bad days, Tuesday, June 10th might rank right at the top for California Governor Gavin Newsom.
First, the city of Los Angeles is experiencing significant unrest due to the federal government enforcing immigration laws, with local and national Democrats hesitant to criticize the violence while attributing the blame to President Trump.
Next, there was a public disagreement between him and the president over whether they had recently spoken on the phone. Despite Trump having evidence of the interaction, Gavin attempted to downplay it by focusing on a minor discrepancy about the timing of their conversation.
Subsequently, he requested a district court judge to put a temporary hold on the Trump administration’s decision to deploy National Guard and Marines to address the unrest, as he himself was not taking action. Although the judge didn’t reject the request, he allowed the administration time to respond before making a ruling, scheduling a hearing for Thursday.
Then, Newsom got smacked around on X by Vice President JD Vance, before being raked over the coals by Fox News personality and author Steve Hilton, who’s running to replace him.
