Georgia homeowner charged in shooting of suspected teen porch pirates

A homeowner in Georgia is now facing charges after allegedly shooting two teenagers suspected of stealing packages from his porch last week.

Rakim Bradford has been charged with two counts of aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. The charges stem from the shooting incident involving two teenage boys, ages 15 and 16.

The incident took place just before 3:30 p.m. on December 11 outside Bradford’s townhome in Atlanta.

Atlanta Police Chief Darin Schierbaum stated, “Our investigation suggests that a property crime was in progress, with packages being removed from a front porch, which is a common occurrence during this season. The homeowner discharged his weapon in an attempt to prevent the theft.”

Upon arrival, officers discovered a 15-year-old boy with a gunshot wound to his right foot. He was subsequently transported to Grady Memorial Hospital for medical treatment.
