Game on!
Hulu released its new trailer for “Chad Powers.”
The series, consisting of six episodes, features Glen Powell as Russ Holliday, a former college quarterback who made a career-derailing mistake. Eight years later, inspired by the movie Mrs. Doubtfire, he embarks on reviving his football career by pretending to be a quarterback named Chad Powers and trying out for the South Georgia Catfish, a team experiencing difficulties.
In the trailer, which you can watch above, Powell’s character, as Powers, manages to attract the attention of South Georgia’s coach, portrayed by Steve Zahn, although he encounters some issues with his disguise. At one point, Zahn’s character, Coach Hudson, remarks, “I like you, Powers, but you are a puzzle.”
Powell’s Powers also comes to the realization that “Russ was an a-hole, Chad doesn’t have to be.”
Produced by NFL legends Peyton and Eli Manning, this series draws inspiration from a viral moment in Eli’s unscripted ESPN show, “Eli’s Places,” where Eli created Chad Powers to secretly participate in Penn State’s open football trials.
The film also stars Perry Mattfeld as Ricky, Quentin Plair as Coach Byrd, Wynn Everett as Tricia Yeager and Frankie A. Rodriguez as Danny.
“Chad Powers” premieres September 30 on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+.
The Walt Disney Company is the parent company of Hulu and this ABC station.
