Glen Powell’s mom has spoken out about her son’s relationship with Sydney Sweeney after the pair were seen together over the weekend at his sister’s wedding.

The Anyone But You co-stars reunited in Dallas, Texas, where they both celebrated the wedding of Glen’s sister Leslie Powell to Thomas Gillespie on Saturday.

Fans have long speculated that there could be something romantic between Glen, 36, and Sydney, 27 – and the actress’s split from her fiancé Jonathan Davino, 41, certainly did little to help persuade otherwise.

But now, in an exclusive phone call with the Daily Mail, Glen’s mom, Cyndy Powell, has revealed what’s really going on. 

‘They’re definitely not together. It was just, like, she was there [at the wedding] with her friend,’ she said.

Sydney is ‘really close friends’ with the whole Powell family, she added, and in particular Glen’s sister Leslie, a Los Angeles-based singer and songwriter, who was tying the knot.

The actress had apparently planned to attend the nuptials ‘a long time ago’ and RSVP’d with a plus-one, her best friend.

Powell’s mother added that rumors of Glen and Sydney dating are ‘silly’ and that there is ‘nothing going on behind closed doors.’

‘He’s the kindest person and he is so others-oriented. He loves his family, he loves his friends. And Sydney is a friend,’ she said. ‘They’ve been friends for so long. They’ve known each other for so long and they’ve both been single and together and with other people. 

‘They could have made anything happen that they wanted to at any point. But he’s got so many friends that care about him and he cares about, and he’s got a really nice group of friends that they kind of take care of each other. It’s really nice.’

Asked if she would like to see the two former co-stars date, Glen’s mom said: ‘That is none of my business. I just want what’s best for everybody.’

She continued: ‘I just want somebody that loves him unconditionally and he loves unconditionally, and they take care of each other and live happily ever after.’

On Sunday, Glen was seen looking downbeat as he arrived in New York City in his first sighting since he and Sydney reignited romance rumors. The actor was dressed in all black as he made his way through the airport. 

But, with Sydney’s engagement called off, Glen’s mother believes that her son is not ready for his fairytale ending just yet.

‘He’s too busy right now. But he’s a family man. He wants a family and he wants his happily ever after. It’s just not right now,’ she said.

And though she was clear that Glen and Sydney are not dating, his mother added that his family ‘loves’ Sydney.

‘We love Sydney. We’ve considered her just a really, really good friend. We all were together so much, and we haven’t seen her in a long time,’ she said. ‘She’s really a friend and we all enjoy her.’

Glen’s mom would love to see the former co-stars work together again. She told DailyMail.com, ‘They’re both great actors. They’re both nice people, and it’s so much more fun to work with nice people’

Sydney reportedly split from her fiancé Jonathan Davino, 41, amid ‘major issues’

This weekend’s wedding was a ‘joyous’ event, she added, though she wished the Friday rehearsal dinner had been at a ‘more secluded place’ because photos emerged of Glen and Sydney together. 

The actors were seen at a local Dallas restaurant, Joe Leo Fine Tex Mex, in photos shared by gossip blogger DeuxMoi. 

Glen – who moved back to his home state of Texas last year – donned a green polo shirt, as seen in the photos, as he joined both the actress and the large group at the restaurant. 

Sydney was stylish, wearing a fitted, long-sleeved ensemble and allowed her blonde locks to flow down past her shoulders in light waves.

The Saturday ceremony took place at a church in Dallas, Glen’s mother reveals: ‘Everybody was just there celebrating [Leslie and Thomas] and everybody there loves them and just wanted to be part of that.’

‘I’ve never been to a wedding that felt so… just everybody there was celebrating them and having fun. It was just so fun,’ she said, describing her daughter as ‘the most joyous ray of sunshine’ and her son-in-law as a ‘family person.’

Back in 2023, Glen and Sydney first became embroiled in romance speculation while they were promoting their romantic comedy Anyone But You.

Glen even went as far as denying that anything was going on while appearing on the Today show, but said: ‘No, but we do love each other. And, honestly, this is one of the most spectacular humans I’ve ever met. She’s really great.’

Their reunion this weekend comes after news last week that Sydney had called off her wedding – due to take place in May – to Jonathan Davino amid ‘major issues’. On Monday, People confirmed that the couple have called it quits, with a source telling the outlet that Sydney was ‘not ready to settle down’ and didn’t ‘feel right about’ the relationship or her upcoming wedding. 

They started dating in 2018 and got engaged in 2022, but for the most part had kept their relationship private.
