On Thursday, authorities quickly responded to an incident at the Mall of Louisiana in Baton Rouge following reports of an active shooter.
Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry acknowledged the situation in a statement shared on the social media platform X, just before 2 p.m.
“I am in coordination with law enforcement and we will update as we know more,” Landry stated. “Please avoid the area.”

The scene at the Mall of Louisiana remains tense as officials work to manage the situation. Details regarding injuries or fatalities have yet to be confirmed.
Expressing concern and gratitude, Landry added, “Sharon and I are praying for those affected and are grateful for a quick response by our law enforcement officials.”

Mall of Louisiana is the largest mall in the state, and the sole regional mall in Baton Rouge.
East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office and Louisiana State Police did not immediately respond to inquiries from Fox News Digital.
