A dramatic video has emerged showing a teenager, suspected of being influenced by ISIS, throwing an improvised explosive device (IED) during chaotic scenes outside New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s residence, Gracie Mansion. Law enforcement officials have confirmed the incident.
The footage captures 18-year-old Emir Balat as he approaches a speaker addressing a small assembly outside the mayor’s Upper East Side home on Saturday. Suddenly, Balat is seen flinging an object over his head, which quickly disappears from view.

Masterson was among approximately 75 counterprotesters gathered to oppose a smaller rally organized by right-wing activist Jake Lang. The demonstration, titled “Stop the Islamic Takeover of New York City, Stop New York City Public Muslim Prayer,” had sparked the counterdemonstration.
“I was in the middle of saying ‘as a born and raised New Yorker, we welcome everyone into this city,’ when he threw that over my head,” Masterson said in a post sharing the clip of the incident on X.
