HOMEWOOD, Ala. (WIAT) — Shots were fired after a dispute at a Homewood day care Monday morning, according to the city’s police department.

Police responded at around 9:20 a.m. to a report of gunfire near ABC Daycare and Kindergarten. Through interviews, it was discovered that a parent and her sister had arrived at the facility to drop off a child.

The parent and her sister then reportedly got into a verbal argument with an employee, which escalated into a physical altercation. The fight was broken up by other employees. Following this, the parent, her sister, and the child left the daycare in a vehicle and headed down Carr Avenue towards Green Springs Highway.

Observers noted that the daycare employee then pursued them down Carr Avenue in her vehicle. Allegedly, she fired shots at their vehicle, with one bullet striking a tire. Fortunately, no one was injured in the shooting.

The day care employee was arrested for pending attempted murder charges.
