One person was injured at a Wayne, Michigan church on Sunday morning after a suspect opened fire on the congregation mid-service.
“This morning, the Wayne Police Department handled an active shooter situation at Crosspointe Church in Wayne,” the department stated. “When officers arrived, they found that a church security guard had shot and killed the suspect. Another individual suffered a gunshot wound to the leg. Please steer clear of the area as officers continue their investigation.”
Chaotic video on social media reportedly shows congregants ducking behind their seats before running towards the back of the church.
The outlet said that the armed suspect was on his way into the Christian church when a person outside the church tried to stop him using a truck.
The FBI is monitoring the attack.

“Our leadership and support units are present on site in Wayne, Michigan, offering aid and investigative support,” FBI deputy director Dan Bongino mentioned on X.
