Piers Morgan has tonight named the two senior royals who Omid Scobie claims were the ones ‘with concerns’ over Prince Archie’s skin color.

The original claim was made by Meghan Markle in her infamous 2021 Oprah Winfrey interview when she revealed there were ‘several conversations’ between herself, Harry and Royal Family members about ‘how dark’ their son Archie’s skin would be.

At the time, Meghan chose not to reveal who had made the comments, telling Oprah: ‘I think that would be very damaging to them.’

But this week, the claims surfaced again after the Dutch translation of Mr Scobie’s book Endgame appeared to reveal the name of the person alleged to have commented.

Dutch royal journalist Rick Evers then spotted that two Royal Family members appeared to have been named as the ‘royal racists’ in his country’s translated copy.

Mr Scobie’s Dutch publisher Xander Uitgevers said they had been ordered by US bosses to put sales ‘on hold’ at the eleventh hour.

The royal author has said he has been prohibited by law from revealing the names – which he says he is aware of – in the UK. But Piers Morgan chose to name the two senior royals who allegedly made the comments tonight.

On his TalkTV show, he said: ‘I’m going to tell you the names of the two senior royals who are named in that Dutch version of the book because frankly, if Dutch people wandering into a book shop can pick it up and see these names then you, the British people here, who pay for the British Royal Family, you are entitled to know, too.’

He added: ‘I don’t believe any racist comments were ever made by any of the Royal Family and until there is actual evidence of those comments I will never believe it.

‘But now we can start the process of finding out if they ever got uttered, what the context was, and whether there was any racial intent at all. Like I said I don’t believe there was.’

He then named the two senior royals.

Earlier this afternoon, Mr Scobie issued a statement this afternoon in which he insisted naming the royal was an ‘error in the translation’ in the Dutch version and he was ‘happy’ that it was being corrected.

But his Netherlands publisher simply referred today to ‘an error that occurred in the Dutch edition’ – not making any reference to a translation issue, suggesting there may be a difference in opinion as to what happened.

The statement read: ‘The rectified edition of Eindstrijd by Omid Scobie will be in bookstores on Friday 8 December. Xander Uitgevers temporarily removed the book from sale, due to an error that occurred in the Dutch edition.’

Thousands of copies of Endgame, which was published globally yesterday to withering reviews for its vindictiveness toward the Royal Family, now face being pulped as a result of the error.

This is a breaking news story. More to follow.
