In a tragic turn of events at a child’s birthday celebration in Stockton, California, an 8-year-old girl has been identified among the four people who lost their lives in a mass shooting last Saturday.
Maya Lupian, whose name was shared on a GoFundMe page organized by her family, was one of the victims of the horrific incident.
A vibrant third grader and enthusiastic karate student, Maya was just a couple of weeks shy of celebrating her 9th birthday.

Also among the deceased were a 9-year-old, a 14-year-old, and a 21-year-old. Additionally, eleven individuals were injured in the attack.
The 14-year-old victim has been identified as Amari Peterson, who was remembered by his father as a “gentle soul.”

The FBI has joined other law enforcement agencies in the search for the suspects. The reward has increased from $25,000 to $50,000.

Investigators say least 100 people were celebrating a 2-year-old’s birthday when the gunfire started.
The man who leases the venue where the shooting happened says he doesn’t expect to reopen his business any time soon, if ever.
He told the Sacramento Bee, “There’s no business there anymore. It’s a memorial.”
