A distressing video has emerged capturing the moment a young mother discovered her 7-month-old daughter had been struck by a stray bullet while she was pushing her in a stroller through Brooklyn on Wednesday.
The security footage, obtained by The Post from a bodega in East Williamsburg, shows the poignant moment when Lianna Charles-Moore realized her baby girl had been shot while in her stroller.
In the video, Charles-Moore and the child’s father are seen seeking refuge inside the deli with their infant daughter, Kaori, and her sobbing 2-year-old brother, who was terrified by the loud noises.
The family initially mistook the sounds for fireworks, but they were actually gunshots fired by two individuals on mopeds into a crowd near the intersection of Humboldt and Moore Streets around 1:20 p.m., police reported.
The footage captures the agonizing moments following the incident when Charles-Moore, after tending to her son, peered into the stroller to check on Kaori, who tragically suffered a fatal head injury.
Inside the bodega, Charles-Moore, who had been tending to her son, pulls back the double stroller’s visor and bends down to glance at Kaori, who suffered a fatal head wound in the shooting, the clip shows.
The distraught mom jumps up and down and screams out with her hands above her head as she’s overcome with emotion, according to the agonizing footage.
“I was hugging [my son], and then when I looked to my left, my daughter was just there, lying there. She was shot in the head. She was just bleeding. It was just too much,” Charles-Moore said in a phone interview on Wednesday.
Her break-down alerted bystanders all totally unaware of the tragedy unfolding under their noses up to that point.
A child who had been standing behind the stroller peaks around to its seat and immediately steps back, appearing aghast with their jaw dropped.
A man rushes over and appears stunned by what he sees, covering his mouth before hastily pushing the stroller outside. It’s not immediately clear if the man is Kaori’s father or a good Samaritan.
The tragic youngster was then rushed by ambulance to Woodhull Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 1:46 p.m. Her 2-year-old brother suffered a graze wound and was treated at the same facility.
The bubbly baby had just learned how to say the word “mama” and hadn’t even begun walking yet when the heartless shooter on a moped fired in her direction.
Chilling surveillance photos captured the suspect blasting a gun from the back of the moped as the driver sped away.
The duo eventually crashed into an oncoming car two blocks away — throwing the passenger to the pavement so hard that his shoes flew off his feet, police officials said.
The passenger was rushed to Brooklyn Hospital, where he was identified as a person of interest in the deadly shooting and was taken into custody in connection to an unrelated domestic incident, cops said.
A massive manhunt has been launched to locate the second suspect.
