Bride attacked with paint tearfully rips sister-in-law's attempts to justify spiteful attack

In a heartbreaking revelation on “Good Morning Britain,” a British bride, Gemma Monk, shared her emotional turmoil following a vicious attack on her wedding day. Just moments before she was set to walk down the aisle, Monk was doused in black paint, an act of malice that left her $2,400 dress in ruins.

The incident, orchestrated by her sister-in-law, Antonia Eastwood, not only marred what should have been a joyous occasion but also opened old wounds in a family feud. Monk, 35, fought back tears as she recounted the pain of the attack and the ongoing strain caused by Eastwood’s attempts to justify her actions.

Monk was visibly distressed as she addressed the accusations made by Eastwood, who alleged that Monk had instigated the conflict by trying to trip her at a previous wedding. “The reasons she gave are completely blown out of proportion,” Monk stated, firmly dismissing Eastwood’s claims as false during her emotional TV appearance, as reported by the Mirror.

Seated beside her supportive husband, Ken, Monk described the surreal and devastating moment the day took a turn for the worse. “I was getting ready, my dad came to collect me, and I arrived down the road from the venue because the guests were still outside,” she recounted, her voice heavy with emotion.

For Monk, what should have been a celebration of love became an unforgettable nightmare, leaving her to grapple with the emotional aftermath of a family divided by betrayal and resentment.

“I was getting ready, my dad came to collect me, and I arrived down the road from the venue because the guests were still outside,” she said.

“We waited down there before we went in, and when we got the ok, my dad drove me and my bridesmaids to the venue. We got out and had a photo with the photographer, and I was then told not to get out here, and we were going to the bridal tour,” Monk continued.

As Monk went to enter the venue, she heard her name being called — before realizing black paint had been thrown over her.

Shocking photos showed the devastated bride-to-be with dark, mud-like paint covering the left side of her face and chest and spattered across her $2,400 white dress.

“I knew instantly who it was. There’s not many people I don’t get on with. I’m not a hated person; I’ve got a kind heart. I only want what’s best for my brother,” she said.

Ken, who was standing at the altar oblivious to the commotion outside until he was told by the registrar, said he also instantly knew who was behind it.

Hairdresser Eastwood claimed in an interview following her sentencing that her bizarre stunt was the result of years of simmering tensions and jealousy between the pair, which she said had begun when she started dating Monk’s brother in April 2023.

She accused Monk of being jealous when her brother, Ash, proposed to Eastwood after just five months of dating, as her own partner of more than 20 years still hadn’t asked her to tie the knot.

Monk then set about trying to sabotage her sister-in-law’s wedding, Eastwood claimed, accusing her of ousting her best man and trying to trip her as she walked down the aisle.

Despite both being banned from Monk’s wedding, Eastwood and her husband still showed up, where she admitted in court to throwing the child-safe black paint at the bride outside the venue in a “spur of the moment” attack.

Eastwood was handed a 10-month prison sentence, suspended for 12 months, the UK equivalent of parole. She was also ordered to do 160 hours of community service.

Monk and her husband went through with their wedding after an emergency clean dress was found.

The couple plans to renew their vows next year — with tighter security in place this time around.
