Tragedy struck Beech Grove, Indiana, as Police Officer Brian Elliott lost his life in the line of duty on Monday night while responding to a domestic disturbance incident.
According to WTHR, Beech Grove Police Chief Michael Maurice expressed his sorrow, stating, “It is with a heavy heart that I inform you that today, we lost one of our very own.”
Elliott, along with fellow officers, arrived at the scene shortly after 5:30 p.m. and was met with gunfire. Both Elliott and another officer were wounded and rushed to the hospital; tragically, Elliott did not survive his injuries.
Chief Maurice shared further reflections on Facebook:
The Marion County Sheriff’s Office acknowledged Elliott’s dedication, noting, “Officer Brian Elliott protected and served his community right to the very last minute of his life.”
Before joining the Beech Grove Police, Elliott served with the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.
