Hope Lodge in Jacksonville honoring 5th anniversary

Since 2020, Hope Lodge Jacksonville has housed more than 2,700 cancer patients and caregivers for free.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The American Cancer Society is celebrating a significant milestone this month as the Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation Hope Lodge in Jacksonville marks its fifth anniversary.

Since its opening in 2020, the Hope Lodge has provided more than a place to stay; it has offered comfort and relief to 2,724 cancer patients and their caregivers. The facility has provided 60,413 nights of free lodging, saving guests an estimated $6.24 million in housing costs.

A celebration took place Thursday evening, featuring guided tours, light refreshments, and a brief program to honor the volunteers, partners, and donors who have made the Lodge’s mission possible. First Coast News Anchor Anthony Austin hosted the event.

To mark the anniversary, the American Cancer Society has launched a special fundraising challenge to raise $555,555. All proceeds will go toward the Lodge’s annual operating expenses to ensure it continues offering free lodging and services.

Those interested in donating can contact Leslie Castillo at Leslie.Castillo@cancer.org or call 386-222-3837.
