Hulu debuts trailer for Native American folklore-based true-crime documentary 'Blood & Myth'

LOS ANGELES — In Hulu’s latest true-crime documentary “Blood & Myth,” viewers embark on a chilling journey as an individual investigates a creepy paranormal link, uncovering a story where legend and reality intertwine.

A haunting true crime documentary, “Blood & Myth” ultimately narrates a story about identity, the American dream, and the risks associated with straying too far from one’s roots.

In an isolated Native village in Northern Alaska, a spate of violent, bloody assaults shakes the community. James Dommek Jr., an Alaskan Native and descendant of the last Iñupiaq story-tellers, finds himself drawn to the case when the facts seem misaligned.

The story goes like this:

“Central to the chaos is an unexpected fugitive: Teddy Kyle Smith, a fellow Inupiaq and accomplished actor highly revered among his people. The mystery only intensifies when Teddy is apprehended and claims, startlingly, that he had a terrifying encounter with Inukuns—dreaded entities long familiar to the Iñupiaq—who had influenced his violent conduct while he was alone in the wild.”

Teddy’s claims fall on deaf ears as Native American folklore is pitted against the U.S. justice system.

“Obsessed by the story, James embarks on a journey back to the village to uncover the truth behind what Teddy allegedly saw in those mountains.”

Adapted from the Audible Original “Midnight Son,” Hulu’s “Blood & Myth” is directed by Kahlil Hudson and produced by Jonas Bell Pasht and Jonah Bekhor. The executive producers are Dommek Jr., Isaac Kestenbaum, Josie Holtzman, and Kahlil Hudson, with Mike Langer and Derek Doneen serving as co-executive producers.

“Blood & Myth” premieres Thursday, September 4 on Hulu.

The Walt Disney Company is the parent company of Hulu and this ABC station.
