HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — The Huntsville Police Department said a woman was arrested Friday on a child abuse warrant.

According to HPD, on March 28, Jessica Patterson Traweek, 35, took a child to the hospital for medical attention. The police were alerted because the child had injuries “that did not appear to be accidental.”

The department stated that DHR was informed and implemented a safety plan to protect the child from any further harm while an investigator from the police department’s Special Victims Unit looked into the matter.

The investigation revealed that Traweek had abused the child several times in the past.

On April 25, the investigator in the case obtained a warrant for Traweek’s arrest, and that same day, she was arrested on said warrant.

She is currently in the Madison County Jail, being held without bond.
