Justin Henderson, aged 36, received a sentence for charges of second-degree murder and tampering with evidence related to the death of Quintasha Ross, who was 26.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — According to court documents, a man was given a 35-year prison sentence on Tuesday after pleading guilty, abandoning his previous not guilty plea, in connection to the murder of a woman in Jacksonville’s Brentwood neighborhood.

Charged with second-degree murder and evidence tampering for Quintasha Ross’s murder, Justin Henderson, 36, saw an abuse of a dead body charge dismissed under a plea agreement.

On June 16, 2024, officers from the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office responded to West 41st Street following a witness’s report about a foul smell emanating from a residence in the area. The witness had informed police she was worried since Ross hadn’t contacted her in two weeks, according to Henderson’s arrest documentation.

Upon searching the residence, officers encountered Henderson but found no one else and did not detect any foul smell inside. As per the report, Henderson stated he hadn’t seen Ross for several weeks, with the report describing his connection to Ross as “acquaintance.”

Family members of Ross also raised concerns with police, as the house was searched again a day later, the report states.

JSO’s homicide and missing persons units later responded and found Ross’ body. The case was then ruled as a homicide, according to the report.

Henderson was given credit for 420 days of time served at his sentencing.
