Social media influencers Andrew and Tristan Tate have been charged with a total of 21 offenses, including rape and human trafficking, as announced by prosecutors in the United Kingdom on Wednesday.

The Associated Press noted that these charges were approved in January 2024, which is when warrants for the brothers’ arrests were issued. Although they have dual citizenship in the U.S. and the U.K., the brothers relocated to Romania in 2016.

Even though the warrants were issued earlier, the Crown Prosecution Service stated that the charges revealed on Wednesday are the first time the brothers have faced criminal charges in the United Kingdom.

The brothers face a total of 21 charges, with Andrew facing 10 charges related to three women. The charges against Andrew include rape, actual bodily harm, human trafficking and controlling prostitution for gain.

The whereabouts of the brothers were not immediately clear.

They were photographed a week ago outside a police station in Voluntari, Romania, where they have to report regularly while facing charges there.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
