For a second consecutive day on Sunday, loud explosions reverberated through Dubai and Doha, the capital of Qatar, according to eyewitness accounts. These blasts are part of Iran’s expanded retaliatory actions against neighboring Gulf states, following US and Israeli strikes on Iranian territory.
Although Iran had initially vowed to target US military bases in the vicinity, its strikes have extended to various locations across Gulf cities.
In Dubai, two individuals sustained injuries when drone shrapnel fell on two houses after being intercepted, as reported by a statement from Dubai’s Media Office.
Significant landmarks in Dubai, including its international airport, the iconic Burj Al Arab hotel, and the luxurious Palm Jumeirah Island, experienced damage from the strikes.
Meanwhile, thick, black smoke continued to billow from the Jebel Ali port, following a fire that erupted earlier on Sunday. The blaze was triggered by debris resulting from the aerial interception of a missile.
As the largest tourism and trade hub in the Middle East, Dubai is home to one of the busiest airports globally, amplifying the impact of these recent events.
Qatar’s interior ministry said on Sunday it was responding to a limited fire in an industrial zone after debris fell from an intercepted missile.
