Iranian American activists are highlighting the recent terror warning about a potential Iranian drone attack as a crucial reminder to the nation. This threat underscores that the conflict extends beyond regional concerns to directly impact homeland security.
“This incident serves as a critical wake-up call for those who thought this was merely a war of choice or a diversion from other political issues,” stated Lisa Daftari, a foreign policy expert focusing on Middle Eastern affairs and counterterrorism, in an interview with The Post.
The Iranian American community, particularly in Los Angeles, continues to celebrate the US-Israeli airstrikes that eliminated Iran’s supreme leader earlier this year. Despite the new threat, activists say the resolve of the Iranian community in LA remains unshaken, especially among those leading protests in Westwood.
“Our fight continues,” declared Arezo Rashidian, an activist involved in organizing the Los Angeles protests.
On Wednesday, the FBI disclosed that it has been tracking foreign threats aimed at California. They issued a stern warning to law enforcement, stating, “We have recently obtained information suggesting that as of early February 2026, Iran may plan a surprise attack using drones launched from an unidentified vessel near the U.S. coast, specifically targeting unknown sites in California, should the U.S. conduct strikes against Iran.”
Rashidian commented, “These threats are specifically aimed at silencing us protesters because we make our voices heard. We are familiar with these intimidation tactics, but we refuse to be scared or silenced.”
Amid the shocking reveal, the community refuses to succumb to terror threats.
California has the highest concentration of Iranian dissidents in the U.S., up to 500,000, but it is unclear if that is why the state could be targeted.

Daftari said she’s had threats made against her throughout her entire career, so it’s “nothing new.”
“The Iranian regime has used propaganda and cyber warfare against the West for years. Many of us here are working closely with law enforcement to report any threats or anything that’s, you know, out of the ordinary to keep the entire community safe.”
