Reims manager Will Still was among the spectators trapped inside the King Baudouin Stadium following a suspected terror attack before Belgium’s game against Sweden.

The game was abandoned at half time after two fans were shot dead outside the ground with the alleged perpetrator still on the loose after gloating over the killings online.

Brussels was brought to a standstill after a gunman claiming to be part of ISIS opened fire on a group of fans. A third is seriously injured.

Still spoke to BFMTV from inside the ground where he was watching his home country play in their latest European Championship qualifier.

‘We are still locked in the stadium, with no exit allowed,’ Still said. ‘It’s a bit of a blur for everyone.’

Players and officials were also held inside the ground, as well as thousands of fans, with UEFA confirming the match had been abandoned.

Supporters have since started to leave the ground with armed police escorting them through the doors. Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof, who was playing in the game, expressed his support for the decision to lock down the ground.

‘Our security team handled it well and put us at ease,’ he said. ‘Belgium are already qualified and we don’t have the opportunity to get to the European Championship, so I see no reason to play.’

Still was born in Belgium to English parents with his mother and father recently moving to the country before his birth.

He grew up near Brussels and had been involved in Belgian football since 2014 when he became a video analyst at Sint-Truiden.

The now-31-year-old moved to France to work at Reims in 2021 and worked his way up to first team manager, going viral due to his club paying a fine due to Still not possessing the correct qualifications for his role.

He could be seen standing against a wall during the interview inside the ground, which Sweden defender Victor Lindelof described as ‘the safest place to be in Brussels’.
