According to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), there’s an issue with the so-called “bombshell” report. In their statement titled “FAKE NEWS FRIDAY,” they strongly criticize the report, labeling it as completely unfounded:
…Assistant DHS Secretary Tricia McLaughlin slammed the [Daily Mail] report as “fake news” and called it “an affront to journalism.”
“Secretary Noem has not ‘backed’ nor is even aware of the pitch of any scripted or reality show,” she wrote in a statement.
“DHS gets hundreds of pitches for TV shows annually, ranging from documentaries about ICE and CBP border operations to white-collar crime investigations by HSI,” McLaughlin explained further.
“Every proposal is thoroughly vetted before we decide to approve or deny it. We need to reinvigorate a sense of patriotism and civic responsibility in our nation, and we’re open to considering innovative pitches. This particular pitch hasn’t been approved or denied by our staff yet,” she concluded.
