Israeli couple torn apart during Oct. 7 attack has broken up to focus on healing

A tragic turn of events has led to the separation of an Israeli couple, who were violently abducted by Hamas amid the chaos of the October 7 attack, as reported by local media.

Noa Argamani, aged 28, and Avinatan Or, 32, were forcibly taken from the Nova Festival and held captive in Gaza, enduring over two years of separation.

Argamani’s plight caught global attention after distressing footage emerged showing her being taken away on a terrorist’s motorcycle, her fear palpable as she cried out, “Don’t kill me!”

In light of the profound trauma from that dreadful day, the couple has now chosen to pursue their “individual healing,” as per the Israeli news source JFeed.

According to insiders familiar with their situation, the decision to part ways was reached with mutual respect and understanding.

Those close to the survivors reportedly told the outlet that the break-up was respectful and amicable.

Argamani was kidnapped for 245 days. Or was among the last victims to be released after more than two years of imprisonment spent starving and alone.

During their tear-jerking reunion in October 2025, Argamani flashed a wide smile while Or planted a kiss on her cheek.

“Not every story that begins in trauma is meant to end the same way,” Jewish Life Now, a modern-Jewish culture magazine, shared on Facebook in reaction to the news. “Sometimes survival is just the beginning . . . and healing takes its own direction.”

Those invested in the miraculous love story commended the couple for being strong enough to call it quits after everything they endured together.

“Very brave of them both. And it is correct for now. This sort of trauma cannot be healed together, not initially. They both need their own healing,” wrote one commenter.

“Perhaps in time. They’d not be the first couple to have separation after profound trauma. I hope they both find some peace, and pray for them both.”

Or and Argamani did not immediately respond for comment.
