JSO: Nine-year-old found by K9 unit after leaving home near Dunn Avenue

A young boy who was reported missing on Wednesday evening has been located safe and sound, as confirmed by the Jacksonville police just before midnight.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — UPDATE: The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO) has confirmed that the boy has been found safe. To protect the family’s privacy, his name has been removed from this report.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office had earlier issued a call for public assistance in locating the missing child.

The 10-year-old was reported missing to authorities around 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

He was last seen in the vicinity of Normandy Boulevard near Lane Avenue South, a few miles away from his residence.

“We are diligently working to ensure his safe return home,” JSO stated.

The boy is described as being 115 pounds, 5’1″ and having dreads. He was last seen in an orange shirt with black or blue pajama pants.

Anyone with information on where he is should call JSO’s non-emergency number, 904-630-0500.
