The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said the two people were detained following the shooting.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — After a teen was shot and killed at a Jacksonville Southside residence Tuesday evening, two individuals were taken into custody, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office reported.

JSO Sgt. Dishman said patrol officers were sent to the 2100 block of Caljon Road around 6:30 p.m. in reference to the shooting.

When officers arrived, said Dishman, they discovered a male teenager, in his mid-teens, outside a home with a gunshot wound. The teen was transported to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

“Detectives are currently interviewing the two detained individuals regarding the incident,” Dishman informed First Coast News. “Presently, we are uncertain about the details of the incident or the possible connections between those involved.”

Dishman said one of the two people who were detained is the person who called 911 about the shooting.

Detectives with the Homicide Unit and Crime Scene Unit are conducting the investigation into the shooting, according to Dishman.

Anyone with information on the event is encouraged to contact JSO’s non-emergency line at 904-630-0500. For anonymous tips, reach out to Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
